Becoming a FutureMe Mentor is an exciting opportunity to inspire young people in the North East to consider higher education as an option for them.
What is a FutureMe Mentor?
You will be part of a regional team delivering face-to-face mentoring sessions to students in Years 10 and 11.
The programme is being run by the North East Uni Connect Programme (NEUCP), which is a government funded project aiming to increase the number of young people from target wards and underrepresented groups entering higher education. NEUCP involves all colleges and universities in the North East Region, working together to promote higher education opportunities.
FutureMe Mentors will work in all NEUCP schools supporting students in Year 10-11 through a structured programme of aspiration raising workshops. All content and materials for the sessions will be provided. Mentoring for Year 10 and 11 will involve small group sessions. Sessions will take place with a small number of students in a local school, working approximately 5 hours per week during the spring and/or summer term of the 2022/23 academic year.
Your Responsibilities
You will deliver face-to-face mentoring in school to students in Years 10-11. As part of your role, you may also have the opportunity to support in the delivery of other FutureMe events, online, in schools and on campus.
Mentors will be required to commit at least 5 hours per week.
