Safety Procedures

Safety Procedures

We take health and safety seriously and have a number of measures in place to make sure anyone visiting our campus is safe.

Child protection

The University has a strict Child Protection Policy and Procedure for Safeguarding Children.

Our Child Protection Policy 2019 (PDF: 458KB) summarises the policies and procedures that we have in place for all of our events and activities.

Health and safety

A detailed risk assessment is prepared for all events held by the Student Recruitment Team on campus at Newcastle University.

This is designed so that schools/colleges can see what measures the University has in place to protect pupils. It is also so that schools/college staff can add their own measures if appropriate. The risk assessments for individual events can be viewed upon request and used by school/college staff for distribution as they find appropriate.

For schools and academies that utilise Evolve for visits and residentials, we have developed an Evolve Submission Example to help you with the process.

Working with a local school we have created this step-by-step example to assist you with entering the event details into Evolve, alongside uploading a copy of the event or visit risk assessment.

Please note, each Evolve system and set-up will differ dependent on whether your school/academy or local authority purchased the Evolve system, and which input fields they requested to be included.
