Description:

Background

The National College has licensed the North East Teaching Schools' Partnership to deliver Levels 1, 2 and 3 of its new modular curriculum provision for school leaders in the North East region for the next 4 years.

What is North East Teaching Schools' Partnership?

NETSP consists of Teaching Schools from different parts of the region - Sacred Heart Catholic High School, Newcastle; Carmel College, Darlington; St John Vianney and Holy Trinity Primary Schools, Hartlepool; St. Thomas More High School, Gateshead; Whitley Bay High School, North Tyneside; The Sele and Prudhoe West First Schools, Northumberland) - and Newcastle University.

How is the modular curriculum different to current National College provision?

Initially there are 3 levels (levels for new and experienced heads are planned):

  • Level 1 - leading to the National Professional Qualification for Middle Leadership
  • Level 2 - leading to the National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership
  • Level 3 - leading to the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH)

Each level will have a number of compulsory taught modules and a variety of optional modules to suit each individual's needs and interests. These will use high quality National College materials based on the latest research. NCSL's online resources will be available to participants. Work is ongoing to enable accreditation of some of this work at Masters' level. For more details of each level and the costs see the relevant flyers.
The programmes will be facilitated by a combination of serving school leaders at the different levels and experienced National College facilitators. NPQH delivery begins in September and Level 1 and 2 begin in January, 2013. Each day of training will be delivered at different venues across the region.

How do I access this training?

NPQH applications are through the GOV.UK website.

There will only be one application round each year. The next round will be during November 2012.

Level 1 and 2 applications are direct to the North East Teaching Schools Partnership via
