Mummies Unwrapped

Return to Teachers Toolkit Search

The ancient Egyptian mummies in the Great North Museum: Hancock hold many secrets. In this cross-curricular workshop students will look at different types of evidence, such as x-rays and CAT scans, to find out how we know so much about the practises and beliefs of the ancient Egyptians.

Using our mummification doll, students can discover more about the process of how a mummy was made, which objects they were buried with, and why the Egyptians believed their body must be preserved for their journey to the Afterlife.
