Description:

Exciting physics curriculum focused workshops are being offered to school children aged 10-13 as part of the University’s involvement in the Explore Your Universe: Atoms to Astrophysics project. The workshops will include demonstrations and hands-on activities to help inspire a greater interest in science and physics with your students and to help to broaden their existing knowledge and to explore new topics.

Our academic staff will come to your school to deliver the session in the classroom. The workshops will cover material drawn from the following curriculum focused topics:

  • Heat and temperature
  • Electricity and magnetism
  • Atoms and elements
  • Astronomy and the Universe

We can accommodate up to 30 students in each workshop. The workshops can be for the duration of 1 to 2 hours.

If you would like to book a workshop for your students please contact Lauren Daley, our Events Co-ordinator, by email at maths.physics@ncl.ac.uk or by telephone on 0191 208 6960 with your proposed date and preferred curriculum topic. We will then check if we have two members of staff available.

All staff running the workshops will have a DBS check. Please let us know if you require a risk assessment.

The Explore Your Universe: Atoms to Astrophysics project is a partnership between the UK Association for the Science and Discovery Centre (ASDC) and the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC).
