Year 9 and 11 MathsProblem Solving Sessions

The School of Mathematics, Statistics and Physics have developed problem solving sessions aimed at year 9 and year 11 students.

Sessions aimed at year 9 (held on three consecutive afternoons, 1.30pm – 3.30pm, in July) and year 11 (held on three consecutive evenings, 4pm - 6pm in January/February).

Each session can host up to 80 students and schools can sign up to bring up to 30 students on any of three consecutive days (places are allocated on a first come first served basis). The 2 hour sessions consist of a number of student centred activities all of which are designed to encourage logical thought and promote problem solving skills. There is a competitive component and a winning team will be declared from each participating school. Students will also get the opportunity to meet and interact with some of our undergraduate students.

A refreshment break is included in the middle of the session.
