Our Pre-16 activities aim to equip students with the skills and knowledge they will need to make the right choices for them after school. With talks, case studies and support aspiration workshops: the programme will support your students' learning throughout KS3 and KS4.

Please note our activities for Years 7-10 are for schools in the North East region only.

Student Suitcase

About: Our bags are packed for university and we’re bringing them to your classroom! The Student Suitcase contains 10 essential student items – we’ll explore each item’s link to a different aspect of undergraduate life, including budgeting, living away from home and independence.

HE: An Investigation

About: This interactive presentation takes students through a series of cryptic clues, secret symbols and quiz questions to get them thinking about HE. They’ll explore courses, university life and some of the reasons why some students choose to go to university, as well as learning more about what life is like at Newcastle University.

About: Rooted by GCSEs and branching out into degree courses, students will explore more about graduate careers in which they could blossom, working backwards to discover and explore links between careers and subject choices (and you won’t be-leaf how many puns we’ve included in this interactive activity!)

Student Life

About: This presentation gives students a well-rounded introduction into university life. Covering the basics, such as accommodation, student finance, our campus and facilities, we also explore the opportunities available to students throughout their studies, such as volunteering, student wellbeing support and part-time jobs on campus.

Degree Discovery

About: This informative session is packed with practical information that will give students an in-depth look at degree study. The presentation gives students an introduction to higher education, explores some of the main differences between types of degrees, shows what a typical university timetable looks like and includes testimonials from former students.
