School of Medical Education

The successful delivery of the our programmes is dependent on a number of factors, but none so important than our relationship with the NHS - both Primary and Secondary Care - and with input from a significant number of community organisations.

We work closely with the General Medical Council as the regulator of medical education nationally, Health Education England (North East) and the Medical Schools Council, to ensure our graduates are fully equipped to undertake the challenges of working as an F1 doctor.

The opening of our branch campus in Malaysia presents us with the opportunity to foster new partnerships and relationships and to benefit from delivering medical education in another country.

National Health Service (NHS)

Newcastle University enjoys a long and successful partnership with the NHS.

Our NHS partners throughout the Northern Region are committed to delivering excellent teaching. The close links we've developed with them ensure high levels of student satisfaction.

NUMed Malaysia

On invitation from the Malaysian government, Newcastle University opened a branch campus in the south of Johor, Malaysia.

Malaysian and International students can study MBBS there, following the same curriculum as in Newcastle UK.  Biomedical Sciences, Medical Education and Foundation in Science programmes are also available.

Over 100 students have now graduated from the modern purpose built campus just across from Singapore. The programmes all lead to a UK degree from Newcastle University, and MBBS is accredited by the UK GMC.
