Background

I started my career in dentistry graduating from Newcastle University with BDS (Hons.) in 1996 and then FDSRCS(Ed) in 1999. I graduated in medicine at Newcastle with Distinction in 2002. I did my higher training in Forensic Psychiatry at the Maudsley Hospital. I worked as Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist in London for 18 months with an interest in personality disorder and psychodynamic risk assessment.  I was appointed as a Clinical Senior Lecturer for NUMED Malaysia in June 2011 and then Dean of Clinical Affairs in October 2012. I returned to the UK in August 2014 and was appointed Clinical Sub Dean for Newcastle Universities Medical School in February 2015. I am undertaking a part time PhD looking at the experience of medical students resitting Final year, I chair and sit on  Fitness to Practice Panels on behalf of the Medical School at Newcastle.  I am the MBBS Course Lead for professionalism.
