Policy on personal dataAs a non-profit making organisation, we claim exemption from registering with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), but in our processing of personal data we must comply with the Data Protection Act 2018.
Our policy is to comply with the Act's basic principles and with established good practice, as set out in the Good Practice Guidelines of the ICO.
As an organisation which claims exemption from registration, we are restricted to collecting and processing only such personal data as is necessary for our association’s purposes.
These purposes for which we use personal data are:
- to establish and maintain membership of the association,
- to support the association
- to provide and administer activities for members and those who have regular contact with the association
We have systems to keep our information up-to-date, accurate and secure (on computer, unless individuals ask for their own data to be held on paper).
We remove personal information from our records on request.
Personal data is never disclosed to third parties. Members and others on our mailing list may request a copy of their own personal data.
