The Confucius Institute is a partnership between Newcastle University, Xiamen University and the Office of Chinese Language Council International (Hanban).

The primary aims of the institute are to facilitate the study of Chinese language from primary school through to university level.

We also promote the understanding of Chinese culture and contemporary China.

The Institute is a focus for cultural exchange within the North East of England. We bring important artistic groups from China to the region and providing opportunities for creative engagement.
