Chinese Film Season - Gods & Dragons

Chinese Legends and Magic for Our Time - Chinese animated feature films since 1978

Date/Time: 19 March—2 April 2017

Venue: Tyneside Cinema

Chinese Film Season hosted by the Confucius Institute

Modern animation in China dates back to the 1930s. Since then, Chinese animation has gradually expanded and improved; in recent years, it has completely reinvented itself through advanced technologies and dedicated filmmakers. Children and adults are drawn into the magical world of Chinese mythology it creates.

The Confucius Institute at Newcastle University is therefore delighted to host the Chinese Animation Film Festival. We will bring to the Tyneside Cinema three iconic Chinese animated feature films that showcase the creativity of the Chinese people and the changing spirit of our times:

Sunday 19 March, 11am
Little Door Gods (2016)

Sunday 26 March, 11am
Lotus Lantern (1999)

Sunday 2 April, 11am
Nezha Conquers the Dragon King (1979)

There will be a brief introduction before each film and a post-screening discussion afterwards.

Tickets are FREE but limited so booking in advance is strongly recommend by contacting the Tyneside Cinema booking office. In person, telephone or e-mail bookings only: 10—12 Pilgrim Street / 0191 227 5500 / box.office@tynesidecinema.co.uk.
