Students of the MA Translating & Interpreting at School of Modern Languages are delighted to announce the performance of 'Golden Days' in English translation.

Date/Time: Friday 18:00, 23 February 2018

Venue: Stage 3, Northern Stage

'Golden Days'《良辰美景》is a Chinese play by Zhao Yaomin. The story features a traditional acting family hitting hard times in the modern market economy. Wu Yijiao, the master of Kunqu, has three sons, none of whom can carry on the family's art tradition. All hope lies in the only disciple, Jin Xiu. On the stage, Jin Xiu plays the role of Du Liniang, a young woman seeking for love; while off the stage, betrayed by her lover, she is willing to sacrifice her youth and even her life for the art. The struggle in love and duties intensifies in the conflict of preserving traditional art in a market economy.

There is no violence, no bad language, only minimal smoking and drinking, and only implicit sexual references. It is suitable for 12 years and over (we can also allow 11-year olds in, as long as they are accompanied by an adult!)
