JIN Meng (Jane)

Ms. JIN Meng (Jane) is a graduate of Newcastle University’s MA Translating and Interpreting programme in 2005. Now she is a seasoned professional conference interpreter and interpreter trainer. She also manages a translation company based in Shanghai, China. Jane is currently visiting the School of Modern Languages, Newcastle University, as a guest lecturer.

In her presentation, Jane will share her experiences as a professional conference interpreter. She will talk about the pathways of being a freelancer vs. working full-time as an in-house staff. Jane will also give some suggestions for young conference interpreting professionals on how to get on the right track as a new comer in the professional world, and how to avoid hidden traps.
