Advanced Chinese aims to develop to an advanced level language learner's practical skills in:

  • reading
  • writing
  • listening
  • speaking

Practical skills

On completion of this course, you'll be able to:

  • understand the majority of general conversations in Chinese
  • speak Chinese with better fluency and accuracy
  • read newspaper and business reports written with general vocabulary
  • write a letter to describe details of your life

Linguistic knowledge

On completion of this course, you'll:

  • have established a sense of Chinese grammar and be able to distinguish similar grammatical features
  • understand some complex grammatical rules and usages (including “被”sentence, usage of adverb, be able to distinguish basic synonyms )
  • have learned approximately 300 new vocabulary items and phrases

Cultural awareness

Your language learning experience will be complemented with an exploration of culture.
