Gym Rules and Etiquette

To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all visitors, please observe the rules at all times.

Protecting a great environment for working out

  • All free weights (dumbbells, barbells, plates and bars) must be returned to the racks provided immediately after use.
  • Remove weight from leg press and Smith machines after use.
  • Treat all equipment with respect. We will not tolerate dropping of dumbbells or weight stacks.
  • Weights of any kind must not move from one floor of the fitness suite to another under any circumstances.
  • All members must wipe down each machine or piece of apparatus immediately after use.
  • All bags and personal belongings should go in lockers provided and not into the health and fitness suite.
  • Wear suitable sport exercise clothing at all times while exercising (no jeans). You may not exercise without a top.
  • Wear appropriate shoes at all times while exercising. No flip flops/smart casual shoes allowed. Training in bare feet is not acceptable. Muddy shoes are not tolerated.
  • Report any faults immediately to staff on duty or to reception.
  • If you feel unwell, dizzy or faint, inform a member of staff immediately. Do not continue to exercise.
  • Fire exits must not be opened to let people in or out. These doors should only be used in an emergency. Letting people in through these doors or barriers may result in a ‘Fraudulent Use’ fine of £20 for the person who allows access.
  • No unauthorised recording or photography.
  • Gum and spitting are strictly prohibited.
  • Lifting chalk must be cleaned off equipment after use.
  • All drinks must be in suitable drink containers – no glass bottles.
  • All empty drinks bottles must be placed in the bins provided.
  • Members should only use each piece of CV equipment for a maximum of 20 minutes during peak periods.

The centre reserves the right to suspend membership for inappropriate behaviour.
