Silverstone success for Newcastle Racing

The challenge of designing, building and racing a fully electric car is much greater than for a I.C. engineed car: thankfully the rewards are much greater, especially for the students.  This year only three UK universities managed to present an electric car at Formula Student although others had tried to.

The Newcastle Racing team overcame a number of difficulties to make sure that the Newcastle University car was the first UK electric car to get through the rigorous process of "scutineering" (checking everything is to the rules) this year.

Despite much very wet weather, in the various demanding dynamic events, the Newcastle University car gained the most points for performance of the UK electrics, leaving the team with big smiles.

Well done to the whole Newcastle Racing Team!

And thanks to their many sponsors, without whom we could not have tasted success.
