On arrival postgraduate research students should expect to attend induction events arranged by their Faculty and School.  For September starters there is also an opportunity to participate in University-wide welcome and orientation events.  Students should consult the Handbook for Research Students and Research Supervisors as this provides useful information and contact details that will assist you on arrival in Newcastle.

Central Faculty Inductions

  • Facilities available to students;
  • Provision for student welfare and other support arrangements;
  • Sources of support and advice outside the supervisory team;
  • Training opportunities available within the Faculty.

The Faculty induction will also provide an opportunity for you to meet other research students and staff.  To obtain details of the induction events offered by your Faculty please contact:
