D/deaf/Hard of Hearing Students

On application to the University

Applicants who are D/deaf or hard of hearing are encouraged to contact us at an early stage, to start to discuss support issues, such as preferred communication methods.

If you are invited to an open day for your chosen subject area this is often a good opportunity to arrange to meet with one of the Disability Advisers, to talk about your support requirements. Any subsequent questions can be answered by email at any time.

You should contact your funding body to start your application for Disabled Student’s Allowance (DSA) as soon as you can (UK students only). The Disability Advisers can help with this process and can assist you with any questions that you may have.

Advice, information and guidance is available to D/deaf/hard of hearing students at all stages of their university career. In addition to the support that Student Wellbeing can offer to students, there are a number of external organisations that students can also contact for further information, advice and support.
