Students with a Specific Learning Difficulty (SpLD)

How we can help

The Specialist Learning Team can help you in a variety of ways:

  • providing information and advice about Disabled Students Allowance (DSA)
  • arranging examination concessions
  • arranging for psychological assessment
  • AASN (Autism and Aspergers Support Network)
  • Transition Event
  • Skills Signposting
  • One to one study skills

Examination concessions

In order to be eligible for examination concessions you will need to provide evidence of your SpLD. Please discuss this with your Adviser if you are unsure what to provide.

You will need to bring a copy of your evidence into Student Wellbeing where a copy will be kept confidentially.

One-to-one Support

Provided by specialist tutors, this support is available to all students with a diagnosis of a SpLD, where recommended in the evidence provided.

Study skills sessions are based around your individual needs and the demands of your course. The tutor will help you work on areas such as:

  • essay writing technique
  • reading strategies
  • organisational skills & time management
  • revision planning & techniques

Please note this service is in high demand and you may be placed on a waiting list.
