Register with a Doctor in Newcastle

Registering with a Doctor is one of the first things we advise you to do once you arrive in Newcastle. If you are injured or unwell, it is important that you that you choose the right NHS service to support you. Our aim is to assist you in identifying the most appropriate Doctor's practice in an impartial and unbiased manner.

Firstly, you need to decide if you want a Doctors practice close to the University campus or close to your accommodation.

Secondly, you may wish to consider what you would like the Doctors practice to offer, such as home visits, female practitioners, specialised clinics etc.

GP Health Fayre 2019

Newcastle University is committed to encouraging all students to register with a Doctor upon arrival. If, like most students, you spend more weeks of the year at your university address than your family's address, you are advised to register with a doctor near university as soon as possible. That way you can receive emergency care if you need it and access health services quickly and easily while you're here.

During University Registration/Freshers Week, University and NHS staff will be on hand to help with this process. The process of registering with a Doctor is simple and only takes a few minutes of your time.
The event will be based in The Boiler House, Newcastle University, with the aim to assist students with identifying the most appropriate doctor's practice in an impartial and unbiased manner. Staff will be on hand to help complete the registration form and they will deliver these to the relevant surgery for you.

In addition for 2019, there will be a number of stalls with information on the support students can access and Northumbria Police will be on hand to launch their VR Experience, with a chance to win INTU gift vouchers for students taking part.
