Eligibility and working hours

You must either be registered on a programme of study at Newcastle University, or have recently graduated to be offered work in the apps.

If you are currently studying at Newcastle University you must ensure that you have registered as a student for the current (or upcoming) academic year to enable your manager to be able to assign you work in the app.

Students may work full time on campus following successful completion of a degree programme.​​

  • students with a Tier 4 visa can work up until their visa end date
  • ​undergraduate students can work until 31 October following graduation
  • postgraduate taught students can work until 31 January following graduation
  • postgraduate research students can work until either the 31 October or 31 January following submission of hardbound thesis (which ever comes soonest)

Working hours

Students are limited working to 20 hours per week during term time, or less if visa restrictions require this. Students on part-time courses can work full-time hours throughout the year, subject to immigration permission, if applicable.

Students can work full time (up to 48 hours per week) when they are not in term time. Exact term dates vary by degree programme.  Postgraduate Research students do not have University vacation periods, and so are limited to a maximum of 20 hours per week at all times, with the exception of approved and authorised holiday.
