Stu Brew, Newcastle University’s award-winning student-run Microbrewery based in the School of Chemical Engineering & Advanced Materials, will be using its grant to further improve the sustainability of its brewing operation. The project will involve a number of small scale pilot studies, focused on developing low cost solutions to disposal of waste products and more sustainable resource use. The project will also aim to bring together a network of local breweries in the North East to share best practises and facilitate a knowledge exchange with European partners through the collaboration with Kassel University in Germany.
