A local partnership for global innovation

The Faculty of Science, Agriculture and Engineering at Newcastle University has published a series of case studies for industrial stakeholders on our leading research in water engineering with Northumbrian Water Group.

The case studies provide a brief overview of each area of research in collaboration with Northumbrian Water Group including blue-green infrastructure and sustainable wastewater management. NWG includes Northumbrian Water Limited -- one of the major water and sewerage companies in the UK.

Newcastle University and Northumbrian Water Group have an award-winning relationship. From student projects to world leading, at-scale research, the relationship supports the interests and ambitions of both organisations.

NWG focuses on providing 'a sustainable, affordable, clean and safe water supply and to manage and treat the wastewater returned to us in a way that protects the environment'.

A leaflet is also available showcasing each of the projects: A Local Partnership for Global Innovation‌.

All of the projects are examples of how water research at Newcastle University is working towards Goal 6 of the UN Sustainable Development Goals: Clean Water and Sanitation.

Northumbrian Water Group is part of CK Infrastructure Holdings Ltd (CKI), a global infrastructure company that includes Northern Power Grid and Northern Gas Networks, also partners of Newcastle University.
