Report identifies areas for UK government action on the Sustainable Development Goals

Researchers in the School of Geography, Politics and Sociology have published a report on responses received from a survey on the SDGs in the UK.

The survey was conducted by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) and UK Stakeholders for Sustainable Development (UKSSD). The report identifies three areas for government action on the SDGs that emerged as common themes in responses by civil society organisations:

  • Respondents identified concerns around particular vulnerable groups and around inequality.
  • Concerns about the level of funding committed to ensuring the goals are met were raised in the responses to almost every goal.
  • Respondents raised concerns about both a lack of political will and general lack of awareness around some of the SDGs. It also contains recommendations for any future stakeholder consultation.
