Energy & Carbon Manager

Background

Responsible for the management and reduction of Newcastle University's energy consumption and carbon emissions, and the continued development of the University's ISO 50001 certified Energy Management System (EnMS). Specific roles include:

  • EnMS Management Representative and maintaining ISO 50001 certification;
  • Working towards and reporting against University energy and carbon targets;
  • Building Management System (BMS) manager and operative;
  • Management of University utilities budgets, suppliers, and contracts (billing and invoicing);
  • Identification and commissioning of energy efficiency projects, including management of the University's Salix recycling fund;
  • Maintaining compliance with energy / carbon-related legislation, and other compliance obligations;
  • Raising awareness of staff and students in relation to energy efficiency and sustainability;
  • Ensuring energy efficiency and sustainability measures are incorporated into large University construction projects (new builds), and major refurbishments.
