New Modules

The International Bilko Executive Steering Team (IBEST) are hoping that following the launch of Module 7, which demonstrates the new capabilities of the Windows version of the software, some previous lesson creators may wish to update their lessons to take advantage of the new functionality. Meanwhile six further thematic modules are now under preparation.

Software Development

A beta version of Bilko v. 3 is now available. This 32-bit version is designed to run on PCs running Windows 2000 and Windows XP but runs happily under Windows 95, Windows 98 or Windows NT 4.0 or later.

Among many enhancements, the new version has additional functionality to allow inter alia:

  • geometric correction and resampling of images,
  • support for long filenames,
  • a wider a range of file types (e.g. HDF, ENVISAT N1, netCDF, GeoTIFF) to be imported and processed,
  • an updated and extensive, integrated, context-sensitive Help system,
  • support for Principal Components Analysis,
  • ability to open "sets" of connected images.

An Introduction to using the Bilko 3 image processing software is also available as 10 tutorials. Registered Bilko users can download these tutorials and associated image and other files from the Bilko ftp site.
