If you don't get the results you need to get into your chosen university, don't panic.
Your step-by-step guide
If your results aren't quite as good as expected and you don't get into your chosen University, you can apply through Clearing. If you've done better than expected and want to reconsider where and what to study, you can apply through Adjustment.
You can apply through Clearing from 5 July if you are not holding an offer of a place, or if you already have your exam results.
The application process is the same for both Clearing and Adjustment. We'll take you through the steps below.
Search for courses in Clearing
We have Clearing places available for students with good grades on many of our courses.
Results day: check your grades
Check UCAS Track to see if you have been accepted on your chosen course. If you haven’t, check our subjects in Clearing to see if the course you're interested is still available through Clearing.
Don't forget, if you've done better than you expected, you can apply to a different course or university. We have places available to high achieving students.
From 16 August: call our hotline
Our Clearing hotline is open on Thursday 16 August from 7.00am to 6pm. If you’re calling from the UK call 0800 073 5050 (all calls to this number are free from landlines and mobiles) as soon as you get your results on Results day. If you're calling from outside the UK call +44 191 208 2482.
Other opening times are:
Friday 17 August - 8am to 5pm
Saturday 18 August - 9am to 5pm
Monday 20 August onwards - 9am to 5pm
Please call us yourself as the Admissions Adviser will want to speak to you personally. Have your exam results and UCAS personal ID number handy. Think of any questions you might want to ask to help you make your decision if we make you an offer.
Receive an offer
The Admissions Adviser will tell you whether you have a place at the end of your call. We will send you an email telling you what to do next. The email will include information on your guaranteed accommodation and how to apply for it.
You will need to add your Clearing choice to your UCAS application in UCAS Track (you'll be able to see on UCAS Track that we have accepted you once we've checked your grades and processed your application).
If we can't give you an offer, you can still consider other universities through Clearing. Check the UCAS website for a full list of courses in Clearing.
