Friendly, beautiful and compact, Newcastle is one of the UK's favourite student cities.
Great location in a city that shines bright
Voted 4th in the UK for city life in the WhatUni Student Choice Awards 2019, our campus is in the centre of Newcastle.
Its nightlife is world-renowned and Newcastle has an eclectic mix of restaurants, bars, clubs, theatres, comedy and music venues to rival any major European city.
The city has a proud reputation for sport, with the home of Newcastle United football club just minutes from campus.
From independent stores to chic boutiques and some of Europe’s largest shopping centres, we’re also one of the North’s top shopping destinations.
We’re well connected to the rest of the UK and beyond. You can be in London in less than three hours by train and it’s just a short journey by plane from other UK airports such as Bristol and Southampton.
Newcastle is a great base to explore European cities, with low-cost flights to a huge choice of destinations.
For those wanting to escape the city, take the Metro (Newcastle's handy rail system) to the coast and be at the Blue-Flag winning Tynemouth beach in just 25 minutes.
The historic city of Durham is a 10-minute train ride away and the castles, countryside and coast of Northumberland are also close by.
Low cost of living
Rated in the top 20 in the UK's most affordable towns and cities (Totallymoney.com, August 2018), the cost of living in Newcastle is comparatively low. The city is packed with restaurants, bars and shops offering student-friendly deals and we have such a great transport network, you don’t need a car to get around.
The majority of our student accommodation is within walking distance of campus. We also have 1,500 bike spaces on campus for our many student cyclists.
