Our students benefit from research-led teaching that carries on this tradition, while offering a truly challenging and rewarding experience.

The Newcastle experience

We are proud to have achieved a Gold Award in the UK Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF).

The award is a ringing endorsement of Newcastle University’s long tradition of excellence in teaching. It's a tradition already recognised in many different surveys and assessments and, most importantly, by our own students.

Teaching Excellence Framework Gold status
95% of our 2016 UK and EU graduates progressed to employment or further study within six months of graduating.
We invest millions of pounds in financial support for students who choose to come and study here.
During your first year of study, you are guaranteed a place in university-managed or managed partnership accommodation, provided you meet certain criteria.

Our campus is in the heart of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, one of the UK's favourite cities. It's famous for its vibrant cultural scene, architectural beauty and welcoming atmosphere.

Groundbreaking Research

Our areas of engineering research are diverse and exciting. Dr Kianoush Nazarpour is working within our biomedical engineering group on a 'hand that sees', which could transform the life of amputees.

Exciting Student Projects

Europe's first student-run microbrewery, Stubrew, has just copped a top international award for enterprise and sustainability. The brewery works in partnership with the School of Engineering, and acts as a research unit for sustainable brewery design.
