About me

Choosing Newcastle

I always knew that I wanted to study in England as it offered more career opportunities than Northern Ireland. Newcastle University in particular offered more funding in the form of bursaries and scholarships than any other university I considered. I have also been privileged to use state of the art facilities whilst being taught by world-respected researchers.

Studying in Newcastle

I like the fact that my course is a challenge, every day at University is different. The sense of achievement after solving a difficult problem is immense. My course has already offered me industrial opportunities: I was lucky enough to work for Dyson during a summer placement.

Recommending Newcastle

I would say that Electrical and Electronic Engineering is a dynamic, broad, exciting and fulfilling degree. I would also say that an engineering degree from Newcastle will not limit you to the subject area: many accountants and business people have previously been engineers.

Living in Newcastle

Newcastle is a thriving, diverse and cosmopolitan city. I have been able to see so many amazing things, and Geordies are so welcoming. I can’t forget to mention the nightlife. You will be spoilt for choice when you decide to have a break from studying.

Getting involved

There’s an incredibly wide range of clubs and Societies for you to become involved in. Personally I chose to have a part time job at the University but I’d get genuinely surprised if you couldn’t find a society to match your interests.
