Aims

To develop an appreciation of chemistry and its applications in the environment. To understand basic reaction mechanisms essential to biological processes and modern industrial activities.
This module illustrates how Chemistry impacts on our lives giving examples from physical, inorganic and organic areas.

Students will study catalysis, kinetics, basic biochemical reactions, physical chemistry concepts and some major organic reactions.

The lectures will be used to convey information and to distribute problems sheets and to provide formative feedback following their completion by the students.
Practical Laboratory Classes will reinforce lecture material and enable assessment of student progress.
