Faraday Institution Scholars Programme 2019/20 Entry

The Faraday Institution, via the School of Engineering and the PARTNERS Team.


Two awards of £4,500 per year, for all years of study are available to support students coming to study at Newcastle University via the PARTNERS Programme in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.

The Scholars Programme also includes:

  • an awareness of the range of careers that you can pursue after you graduate (both academic and in industry)
  • opportunities to network with expert battery researchers
  • a paid summer internship in an energy storage research laboratory or with an industry partner
  • a mentor or a coach from Newcastle University with whom you can meet on a regular basis


To be eligible for this award you must:

  • be entering Newcastle University through the PARTNERS Programme supported entry route for 2019/20
  • be intending to study at Newcastle University at the time of your application in one of the following subject areas relevant to battery research:
    • chemical engineering
    • electrical engineering
    • mechanical engineering

How to apply

You can apply via our application form. Applications must be received no later than Wednesday 31 July 2019.
Successful candidates will be informed before they register, and will be awarded the Scholarship once registered at Newcastle University.
Recipients are asked to complete a survey during their course to allow the Faraday Institute to evaluate the success of the programme and submit a thank you letter to the Faraday Institution.
