CME8016 : Process Control Laboratory

Semesters
Semester 2 Credit Value: 10
ECTS Credits: 5.0

Aims

To conduct experiments on experimental rigs (typical experiments may include open loop step tests for system identification and tuning of feedback controllers).

Original Summary:
Process control involves the selection and tailoring of methods for the efficient operation of chemical processes. Proper application of process control can improve the safety and profitability of processes. This course offers students the opportunity to apply process control methods to typical process units. The aim is to learn how to select and apply appropriate control schemes and strategies for common unit operations encountered within the chemical industry.

Outline Of Syllabus

Process Control Laboratory: Hands on experience of controlling a chemical process and real industrial equipment; Practical use of Feedback and Cascade Control, Decouplers and industrial control software (Honeywell operator software); The chance to use a variety of tuning methods to tune a variety of control loop.
