The module aims to give students who have undertaken an Industrial Placement the opportunity to build on their Placement experience and enhance their employability by increasing their knowledge of the science underpinning the Placement and by enhancing skills in reflective practice to promote personal development.

Outline Of Syllabus

During the module students will:

Attend workshops supporting the assessments
Attend tutorials to discuss progress
Undertake collection, reflection and analysis of their skills development
Undertake research into the literature underpinning an aspect of the science relevant to the Placement
Complete a reflective report and a scientific review

Placement experience, and to analyse the relevant scientific literature and present a review according to specified professional requirements. Tutorials provide a more informal setting where students can report on progress and address questions relating to the assessments.

Assessment Rationale And Relationship

The scientific review allows students to enhance their knowledge of a scientific area relating to their placement that is relevant to their Cellular and Molecular Biology Degree-specific knowledge and develops their written communication skills. The factual and reflective report provides students with a formal record of their Placement experience in terms of knowledge of the host organisation and reflective analysis of their skills development that they can draw on for their career development.
