The module will be delivered mainly through lectures and small group teaching activities. Knowledge of theory and practice are addressed within the contact time. The small group teaching activities will be organised so that a combination of exercises, worked examples and discussion can engage the student with their personal formation in the subject area.

Assessment Rationale And Relationship

To enable students to demonstrate their ability to achieve the learning outcomes there will be one piece of group coursework assessed and a time controlled closed book test which will take place in the examination period and these will link directly to the learning outcomes and syllabus. The assessment will deal with the health and safety aspects of the syllabus, while the test will cover the remaining syllabus areas.

The primary objective of the assessments is to test the learning outcomes to ensure that students can achieve them to a satisfactory level. However, some outcomes may not be tested formally but will be dealt with within class contact time through the exercises and discussions engaged in [no marks are associated with these outcomes].
