You’re never far from green space in Newcastle, for the perfect place to take time-out from the hustle and bustle of the city-centre. In fact, two of our parks are just a short walk from the campus.

Leazes Park and Exhibition Park

Only 5 minutes’ walk from the campus, Leazes Park is a great place for an al fresco lunch in between lectures or a stroll around the lake. During the summer months you’ll find groups of students enjoying barbeques here.

On the other side of campus you’ll find Exhibition Park, which has a café, all weather sports courts, a boating lake, and even a micro-brewery on site!

Jesmond Dene

Just a few minutes’ Metro journey from the city centre, Jesmond Dene is a beautiful haven of tranquillity – think waterfalls, heavily wooded areas and winding paths. The perfect location for a picnic with friends in the summer or a walk on a crisp winter’s day. There's also a regular food market at nearby Armstrong Bridge.

Heaton and Armstrong Parks

The neighbouring Heaton and Armstrong Parks are in the residential area of Heaton, which is just outside the city centre. With well-connected Metro and bus links to the city-centre, it’s a popular place for the students to live.

There’s a little Italian restaurant in the park and events including an annual festival, which brings together the local community.
