We are reminding our students and staff that we can help keep each other keep safe by following the guidelines and to remember the hand, face and space message.
The University has a self-reporting system so that students and staff are able to let us know as soon as they receive a positive test for Covid-19 and for when they are self-isolating. This means students who have tested positive, are self-isolating or in quarantine, are able to quickly receive the package of measures in place to support their welfare and academic needs.
In addition to phone calls from our teams and one to one support where needed, we are providing students with 24/7 access to mental health support, food packages, help with laundry, access to a range of online activities, library book deliveries and IT equipment loans. We continue to work with our partners across the city to ensure that all self-isolating students have what they need to be safe and comfortable.
Working with the Department of Health and Social Care and Newcastle City Council the University has secured a Local Test Centre on Castle Leazes which has been operating since 19 October. The test centre offers tests for students, colleagues and local residents. Testing is administered by the NHS and appointments are bookable on the NHS testing and tracing website."
