Advice for current students


The advice and information outlined on this page applies to Exams and Assessments in the 2019/20 academic year. The information on this page may change, in line with ongoing updates to the Government guidance as the situation around Covid-19 progresses. Please make sure you check back regularly for the most up to date information.



The University is very aware of the disruption that Covid-19 has had on all of our students and we will of course, take this unprecedented situation into account. The support options below have been designed for you if you need to tell us about additional issues that you have or are experiencing personally or with your module/s that you believe will impact upon your assessment.

The table below sets out the different options available for you to tell us about these additional circumstances, and gives examples of the sort of outcomes you can expect from completing the form. Please note that outcomes will be tailored to individual student circumstances.

If you would like the University to consider an adjustment for one or more (but not all) of your assessments because your study or ability to complete your assessment is seriously affected by your personal circumstances, including as a result of the Covid-19 emergency, which are outside of your control.

Illness – this may be your own health or the health of someone you care for

Additional caring responsibilities as a result of the Covid-19 situation eg your children being unable to go to school or caring for a vulnerable relative

Difficulties relating to access to the IT equipment you need, or your home working environment

An individual adjustment

Extension to your assessment period

Permission to repeat the tuition and assessment at a later date

Permission to defer a single assessment to next assessment period (NB, see request to defer all assessments option below)

Consideration to your overall assessment result by the Board of Examiners

Change of Circumstances

If you wish to take a complete break from your studies for a period of time, but you intend to return

Your own health, personal or family problems mean you don’t feel you will be able to complete your studies / assessments during this, or the August 2020 assessment period

With the agreement of your Degree Programme Director (DPD), you may take a temporary interruption from your programme
