Winter Break 2020

Winter Break at Newcastle University 2020

Even though we are closed over the Winter Break, there is a range of support and activities available for our students. Find out more about the support available if you are staying in your university accommodation over the Winter Break.

We understand that many students may be feeling a little low and isolated this winter season. It’s been a difficult year for all of us.

Though the university is closed over the break, there is still a wide range of support and activities available to keep you busy and well during the coming weeks.

You can find out more about the support available to those staying in your term-time accommodation in either Newcastle or London over the Winter Break below.

Support your health and wellbeing

Over Winter Break, you can still access support for your health and wellbeing should you need it. Mental health issues or feelings of low mood can strike at any time. This is why the Student Health and Wellbeing Service provide a number of online options, available for you 24/7.

Talk Campus – peer-to-peer support for mental health
Silvercloud – free online CBT programmes available to all Newcastle University students
iNCLude – our self-help app is designed to help you take small steps to improve and maintain your wellbeing.

On Campus Facilities

Most campus facilities will be closed over the Winter Break, however, the Philip Robinson Library will remain open from 10am-6pm every day, with the exception of Friday 25 December and Friday 1 January when it will be closed. (Please note that on Thursday 24 December and Thursady 31 December the Library will close at 5pm.)

Emergency Contacts

Though we hope you won't need any of our emergency details, it’s important that you have them to hand. Information about where to find urgent or emergency help over the Winter Break can be found here.

Social Activities and Volunteering Opportunities

The University is collaborating with the Student's Union to provide lots of social activities for you to get involved in during the Winter Break.
