Winter Break Social and Volunteering

Winter Break 2020 Social Events and Volunteering Opportunities

Newcastle University are collaborating with the Students' Union to bring you lots of fun activities throughout December, including activities during the Christmas break for those students staying in Newcastle during this time.

Festive Hamper

We hope that the students who collected their Festive Hamper enjoys the treats inside!

We will be posting the links to the recipes for the Sponge Cake Mix and the Coconut Stacks that were in your hampers once we have them, so please check back later for these.

Social Activities

Throughout December we offer a programme of fun group activities for all students to take part in. These activities also take place for students who are staying in their term time accommodation over the Winter Break.

These events are a great way to meet other students, both UK and International, especially during the time when the University will be closed and many students will be away. You don’t need to have anyone to go to the events with, they are hosted by current students who will ensure you're included. Most of the events will be virtual and will be hosted by fellow students so you can see a friendly face, but we do have some in-person events happening that will be following all social distancing requirements for those in Newcastle.

Once you register for an event you'll be sent the link or in the case of in-person events the time and location of the meeting place.

The Give it a Go Team at the Students Union have daily activities you can get involved in through Instagram and Facebook. These activities range from craft activities, baking, fitness classes and some societies are also hosting live virtual events over the Winter Break that are open to all students. Check out their webpage and see what's on offer each day!

Our ResLife Team are hosting a Question Box to answer any questions you may have over the Winter Break. Tony, the ResLife Manager, is going to be available to answer any questions you might have. He is going to check the 'Question Box' every morning and the responses will be communicated at the ResLife hosted events. If you would like to ask a question please fill in the Question Box form.

In addition to this the Library has compiled a blog of craft activities you may wish to try too.

The following events are in addition to the Give it a Go activities and give you the chance to meet with fellow students. All events are free but booking is required. You're welcome to join in with the activities or just log in and have a chat with the other students there:
