Why Geographers Should Join the Rebellion

Why Geographers Should Join the Rebellion

Tuesday 17 March 2020

In light of the ongoing concerns around Coronavirus, Newcastle University has taken the decision to cancel all non-essential events until the end of term (27 March).

This decision applies to events within Climate Action Week NCL.

While this is obviously disappointing news, the University is committed to taking every precaution to limit the spread of the virus within our community and to protect the wellbeing of our students, colleagues and members of the public who visit our campus.

Thank you for your understanding. We will look forward to welcoming you back to our events as soon as they resume.

The global landscape of planet Earth is changing. Chronic deforestation, rising sea levels, and mass extinction with one in seven species on the hit list are just some of those changes. How can we develop methods of adaptation and mitigation against them?

Geographers have been studying climate change, its causes and effects, for decades. This study is essential, but now is the most momentous time to become actively engaged with what the future will look like. This planet needs you to rebel.
