Drop-In Q&A with the Sustainability Team

Drop-In Q&A with the Sustainability Team

Monday 16 March 2020

In light of the ongoing concerns around Coronavirus, Newcastle University has taken the decision to cancel all non-essential events until the end of term (27 March).

This decision applies to events within Climate Action Week NCL.

While this is obviously disappointing news, the University is committed to taking every precaution to limit the spread of the virus within our community and to protect the wellbeing of our students, colleagues and members of the public who visit our campus.

Thank you for your understanding. We will look forward to welcoming you back to our events as soon as they resume.

Newcastle University’s Climate Emergency Statement was issued in April 2019. It formally recognised the urgency of environmental issues happening locally and across the world. The statement committed the University to reducing its environmental impact. It announced the aim of achieving net-zero carbon dioxide emissions by 2040.

The statement reads:

“We are proud of the progress we have made, over many years of work, in improving sustainability at Newcastle University. However, we know we need to go further”.
