Aims

The module develops the student's skills in acquiring, sorting and presenting information in a cutting-edge research area. This will be used to write a report reviewing the relevant literature, show how the research area began and has developed, draw conclusions about its current state, and critically evaluate the area to give an informed opinion on its future.

Outline Of Syllabus

Students will work on an individual assignment to survey recently published literature in a new technological area and present a report on the findings. The assignment is carried out in consultation with an academic staff supervisor.

Select and critically evaluate technical literature to produce a literature review on an active research area (M4)
Locate, classify, and describe multiple publications to write a report reviewing literature. (M4)

This module requires the student to undertake a survey of recent published literature in a new technological area and presents a report on the findings. The student is expected to do this independently.

The ability of the student will be assessed regarding;

-subject-specific, Core and Cognitive Skills - established from an assessment of the final report with respect to abilities to acquire, sort and use information, and also present it in a lucid and logical manner.

The formative assessment provides the student the opportunity to receive feedback to aid with the progress.
