Aims

In consonance with the overall aims of the above MA Progammes, to build on research skills and knowledge gained in the taught elements of the programme. In addition, to provide an opportunity for students to research a specialist subject in depth and, where appropriate, prepare themselves for doctoral study in the chosen area.

Students will gain:
•       Advanced knowledge and understanding of a specific problem chosen by the student.
•       Understanding of how the specific problem under study relates to other work in related areas

Intended Skill Outcomes

Students will acquire skills in:
•       developing, pursuing, researching and writing up an extended piece of research
•       researching in depth a topic and the critical literature on it
•       synthesising information and presenting it clearly in the form of an extended piece of writing
•       structuring an argument
•       constructing an extensive, accurate, and comprehensive bibliography and, where appropriate, filmography
