An adept leader of global intellectual teams Andrew's scientific expertise (and academic qualification) is rooted in analytical chemistry and the life sciences. He is an entrepreneur and scientific visionary which he couples with strong commercial acumen to consistently deliver business success and impact from investment science.

As Chief Executive Andrew is responsible all aspects of the Fera business and its PnL, including the setting and execution of its growth strategy and the secure transformation of the Fera from a wholly owned agency of Government to a thriving public-private-sector Joint Venture business.

Andrew joined Fera after a successful career at Intertek and an outstanding track record of delivering strong growth globally in the testing, inspection and certification services industry over 14 years, including establishing its Lifesciences Global Business (>£150m annual sales and >1600 expert staff at >30 sites worldwide). Since 2007 he held parallel responsibility for leading the UK, Ireland and Benelux regions across all Intertek's businesses as one regional PnL (>£170m, 1800 FTE). He devised and deployed innovative outsourcing contract models delivering new organic growth supplemented by highly successful strategic M&A. Andrew relocated to UAE in 2012 to secure a strategic partnership with the Government of Abu Dhabi and to lead strategic growth for ‘One Intertek’ across the wider MENAP region. Before joining Intertek Andrew launched and led successful high technology University Campus ‘spin-off’ company (CSMA Ltd) expanding to new sites in London and Europe.

Andrew led the foundation of Crop Health and Protection Ltd (CHAP Ltd) from January 2016, serving, initially as interim CEO, before establishing and then serving on its Board as a Non-Executive Director until 2020. He also serves the York and North Yorkshire Local Authority by serving on its regional Business Board and the Steering Committee of Grow Yorkshire. Most recently he has been appointed as a Commissioner on the Trade and Agriculture Commission of DIT.
