Aims
Cyber security is a rapidly evolving area, and its development is affected by many factors, including technological advances. This module aims to cover advanced topics and emerging trends in cyber security.
Teaching in this module will be informed by the latest research advances related to the covered topics. Seminars and workshops will be used to support teaching and will provide opportunities to discuss, analyse and critique some of the research related to the covered topics.
Outline Of Syllabus
Some advanced and emerging cyber security trends aligning with the CyBoK and their development eg Security and privacy in AI, Issues related to human factors, Post-quantum security, Trusted computing, IoT Security, Differential privacy etc.

Teaching Rationale And Relationship
Staff members (and possible some external guest speakers, e.g., from industry) will deliver a lecture/presentation on the topic in question. The seminars/tutorials will be used to follow-up on the covered topic and discuss some recent peer-reviewed articles from the related research literature to broaden the horizon of the students on the discussed topics/issues.

Assessment Rationale And Relationship
The module is directly informed by current research. Students can work in groups consisting of 1-3 members to complete the assessment. The report and the presentation will assess the ability of the student in analysing the research literature and providing a critical review of an issue or a topic as well as being able to present their findings clearly and succinctly.
