The main aims and purpose of this module are:
• To critically review the theoretical and contemporary debates and practices surrounding technology enhanced learning.
• To develop a critical approach to analysing the impact of technology in education.

Intended Knowledge Outcomes
1. Students will demonstrate a critical understanding of the theoretical perspectives which have been developed to understand technology enhanced learning with an awareness of the wider social context.
2. Students will gain an in-depth understanding of the potential of technology enhanced learning in a variety of contexts.
3. Students will develop an ability to assess and evaluate the inter-related factors that affect the success of using digital tools and the Internet for learning.
Intended Skill Outcomes

Teaching Rationale And Relationship
This module will utilise block teaching with 4 full days in the first 4 weeks followed by a fifth full day in week 8. These full days will include the delivery of some lecture content, combined with a significant amount of group activities. Students will also have the opportunity to share their thoughts, opinions and reflections both in class and online via their own personal blog.

Assessment Rationale And Relationship
The following two forms of assessment will be utilised on this module:
- Reflective blogging (2000 words, 50% of mark). Students are asked to write a reflective blog (500-750 words) after each day session. Formative feedback is provided on each blog and the students are free to improve their blogs until the final deadline.
- Literature review (2000 words, 50% of mark). During the module students are encouraged to identify an interesting area of research and they are then tasked with writing a 2000 word literature review on this subject. In the final day session students are asked to share their finding with the rest of the class and each student also receives an online document including each of the different literature reviews. As a result this document now becomes an important part of the module content.
