Aims
-To define what the key trends are in contemporary marketing.
-To explore these trends through case-studies, databases, journal articles and other mediums.
-To explore these trends through formative discussions and summative assignments.
Outline Of Syllabus
Each week a key theme will be identified, defined and discussed.
A session will allow students to discuss their summative assessment with the module leader (formative)
Based on formative feedback, one key theme discussed in the semester will be explored in detail in a summative assessment.

Intended Knowledge Outcomes
• identify the central - and ever-changing - themes that exist in contemporary marketing, both academically and practically.
• critically discuss these themes from the perspective of marketing.
• critically discuss these themes from a societal/cultural perspective.
• critically discuss these themes from a research perspective.
Intended Skill Outcomes
• To develop skills in critical thinking and problem solving (via exposure to simulated and real-world problems);
• To obtain information literacy and written communication for both businesses and research (via writing up the market report and a literature review);
• Interpersonal communication (via class discussions and workshops).

Teaching Rationale And Relationship
Lectures will give students the chance to identify and understand what trends exist, and how these trends have been discussed in the extant literature and why they are important socially and epistemologically.
Lectures focus on different domains will help students explore trends of the market and research in detail, which will be useful for summative assessment as well as dissertation topic preparation.

Market report is for generating an in-depth understanding of the contemporary trends in marketing, analysing trends and providing potential background for research;
A literature review is for generating in-depth understanding of the contemporary trends in research relating to a particular topic, analysing research trends and providing potential academic understanding for research.
RESIT INFORMATION: If students are eligible to a second attempt resit will be an assignment and the resit calculation will be based 100% on the submission.
