This module allows students to select a topic of their choice and to develop an online exhibition based on that topic. Students may draw on text, image, sound files and film clips to develop their exhibition. Students will learn:
1. how to choose and develop a topic suitable for an exhibition.
1. how to compose a narrative appropriate for the audiences accessing an exhibition.
2. how to use web-publishing platforms to create an online exhibition.
In the first semester, the focus will be on seminars and practice-based workshops:
1. Seminars will introduce students to the principles of selecting a text appropriate for an exhibition, to theories of the archive and of object biography, to examples of existing online and physical exhibitions, and to the principles of independent research.
2. Practice-based workshops will train students in how to design and edit their exhibition site using an open-source web-publishing platform.
In the second semester, the focus will be on one-to-one sessions, and on practical sessions in computer clusters:
1. One-to-one sessions will support students in the process of researching and drafting the content of their exhibitions.
2. Practical sessions in computer clusters will give students the space to develop and finalise their online exhibitions.
Students will gain:
1. knowledge of a particular topic in depth through extended independent study
2. knowledge of theories of the archive and of object biography
3. knowledge of exhibition spaces and how they are designed and developed
4. knowledge of open-source web-publishing platforms
Students will gain skills in:
1. using web-publishing platforms
2. writing for public audiences
3. designing for the web
4. assembling and documenting reading appropriate to a topic
5. time-management
6. independent- and group-working
7. seeing a self-directed project through to completion

Small group teaching introduces students to the theories and concepts of the module.
The workshops supply the skills training in online platforms.
Supervisions provide focused support for individual projects.
Guided independent study builds in time for students to research their projects, practise newly-acquired skills and to prepare their assessment.
Practicals supports the acquisition of knowledge about digital exhibition spaces by analysing digital exhibition sites.
